The Assumption Novitiate is a newly constructed convent and residence within the Kaohsiung Dominican International School campus. Inheriting the traditional European cloister and archway vernacular, the design interprets these elements through a clean, contemporary lens to cultivate a serene, contemplative, and spiritually resonant atmosphere. At the heart of the building, a central courtyard serves as the focal point for both sightlines and circulation, allowing shifting light and shadow to create a subtle rhythm throughout the day.

The chapel features a minimalist white palette, drawing focus to the monumental mosaic depicting "The Assumption of Mary" behind the altar. On either side, stained glass windows and the Stations of the Cross weave a narrative of light and shadow, paired with a geometric black-and-white crucifix altar that integrates traditional Catholic iconographies into a modern architectural language. Through expansive spatial openness and natural light, the design establishes a solemn, refined, and meditative sanctuary.
